The shooting world is seemingly still overrun with 9mm, striker-fired, polymer-based, semi-automatic pistols. The P10c was first in the line of several weapons carrying the P10 name. After the success of the P10c, CZ came out with the P10s for subcompact and the P10f for full-size in Wink wink, nudge nudge. The concept behind these was pretty straightforward: CZ makes good weapons, and it was looking for a way to break into the synthetic-materials market.
However, due to low sales numbers, they were both discontinued around To their credit, CZ decided to go about it a different way, releasing the compact version first. This way, they let shooters know they were about now, and what it is they had in store for the future. It was kind of refreshing, in a way. An optics-ready OR version of the P10 series is now available, spanking new for Machined mounting plates, option for co-witness, and the fact that the OR versions are made right here in the US — these all contribute to the likeability of these newer models.
Another difference is that the mag release button has been improved on. A downside is that the mag release is no longer ambi, and that the interchangeability of magazines is not guaranteed. Also available are the suppressor ready versions, which include a threaded barrel and higher night sights.
Since the P10c was designed to compete head-on with the Glock 19the build is pretty similar. It is polymer-based, glass fiber-reinforced, striker-fired, and it has a stainless steel slide. Designed inthe company worked on it for a while, releasing it in As one poignant forum-writer put it: this thing took everything that was good about the Glock 19 and made it better.
That said, I personally do not feel there is something which makes the P10c a significantly better weapon than the Glock You want that natural feel, decent accuracy, high capacity, with the option of hiding it in plain sight. I mean, the gun has some things which make it a little different the deeper beavertail, the nitride finish, and several backstraps for adjustabilitybut overall they are very similar, from the look and feel right down to the takedown process. Another noteworthy point is that there is a pretty good factory trigger on this gun.
The only thing I would change right from the beginning is the sights. I would black out the rear sights, and turn it into a one-dot.
It seems that is what CZ did with the OR models, and that is a good idea. The Czech manufacturer introduces full-size, semi-compact and optics-ready versions of its P striker-fired pistol series. Need Some Guidance. I'm looking to purchase a P10C and I know that they have recently made some changes to the P10 Lineup.
I think the main difference is that the newer model has the reversible mag release instead of the ambi release. Are there any other changes I should know of that may make the newer SKU worth purchasing? I know the grip texturing is a little less aggressive and they also fixed the trigger safety occasionally catching when pulled on the S.
I didn't realize that the other versions were made in the US.
I didn't think they would move the manufacturing here for the P10C. But, from looking at the CZ catalog, it looks to be US made. I remember hearing about the trigger safety change. I honestly thought that the magazines would be the same. I also remember that their is now mounting for a sight as well. Well there is an Optics Ready version and a regular version available. The Sootch00 video on the S shows the old mag not being compatible with the new models.

Built to withstand the rigors of military use, its fiber-reinforced polymer frame and hardy nitride finish are made for the daily grind. A generous trigger guard allows use with gloved hands while being undercut to allow as high a grip as possible, and a set of metal tactical 3-dot sights allow for one-handed manipulation of the slide on a belt.

One change that happens on both the US-made and Czech-made Ps is the switch to a swappable magazine release. With a change in geometry, the goal was to eliminate the stiffness some customers experienced as the magazine release broke in, even though it became smooth after some use. This new reversible release just requires a few minutes to swap, allowing the P to remain lefty-friendly.
This is a serialized firearm, and must be shipped to an FFL dealer. Email: ffl dkfirearms. Brian — September 22, I have had this pistol for over a year, and I have been very happy with it. It shoots great, carries well, is very reliable and is overall a very, very good gun.
There are some downsides, the grip texture is a little rough, the trigger has an odd feeling under the finger with extended shooting sessions. However, it still holds up after this much time and shooting, and I would recommend the gun to anyone looking for a solid defensive handgun. Brett — November 17, Bought this pistol over six months ago.
Looked at many different ones but chose this one for the ergos… from the moment I picked it up, it fit like a glove. Functions reliably with all types of ammo, points and shoots to aim, and surprisingly, was cheaper than comparable models from other manufacturers. Would highly recommend. I've seen versions of this question asked but they didn't quite answer my question so I'm asking again. I'm looking at buying a P10C, and I read that there were some issues with Gen 1 that were fixed in Gen 2, but I don't know how to differentiate between a Gen 1 and Gen 2. I've seen this video which discusses how to tell the difference, but I'm going to be ordering mine online so I won't be able to check in person.
When I looked at CZ's product catalogs, the P10c part number waswhile the has a part number of Are the models considered Gen 1, while the models Gen 2?
Or is there no clear distinction between Gen 1 and Gen 2? If I buy one of the models now, brand new, am I pretty much guaranteed to get a Gen 2 P10C with no issues, or should I buy the newest model just to be safe and avoid any potential Gen 1 problems? Well if you buy the optics ready versions or any of the all black versions f,c, and s you'll definitely receive a gen 2. I'm not sure if you specifically want the two-tone urban grey model or how much the color matters to you.
Also, I know you're looking to buy online, but any American made CZ p10c will be gen 2. Stamped produced in kentucky. Most CZs are considered gen 2. They easiest way of telling the difference is a notch in the rear of the slide. This thread talks about it. If I'm not mistaken, all the models after March or April are the gen 2. I would definitely look still. Even if it's not the gen 2 you can get the new parts for it. I'm definitely not an authority on this, but it was my understanding that the problems in the early gen 1 p10's have been resolved and it is unlikely that there are many being sold as new that have issues.
You could get a gen 2 and guaruntee not to get an early gen 1, but gen 2's are new enough that maybe there are some problems with them we aren't aware of yet. It's a crap shoot either way, and if there is something wrong, I might be willing to bet cz will take care of you so long as it isn't heavily altered with aftermarket parts.
